Christmas Food

By sunset On November 18th, 2008

Christmas, good food and sweets are really connected. At Christmas time everyone eats more and more cakes and puddings and all the traditional food of the season.  For me It’s not easy to keep my weight because I don’t think I need to not eat what I want. Every year is the same… I say I’m not going to eat as much as the last year but I never keep my promise. So this year I’ve decided to try to eat as healthy as possible but also eat some of the most appetizing pastries that Christmas can offer. By the beginning of the New Year I’ll start a balance diet with healthy food and some Leptorexin pills loose on some weight.

Christmas Presents

By sunset On November 18th, 2008

As Christmas is coming I find myself thinking on Christmas presents. I like to give to all my friends and family but this year I have to cut on the present budget due to my unemployed situation. To make things worse my birthday is in December and Angel’s birthday is also in December… meaning extra money spend and extra presents (and the money comes from the same wallet). I really would like to make birthday parties but I think we have to consider the idea of having only one party for one of us only.

Regarding present… I love to give presents to the ones I love and I’m making a list of people that I usually give Christmas presents and what should I give them. For my girl friends I will consider buying a small wood box and having a handmade decoration, it’s cheaper and I can try to find the time for it. I also have to make my parents list of presents for them to give because my father has no interest in that and my mother has no ability due to their Alzheimer illness.

I love Christmas time and I love to buy presents but, what I really don’t like is when all people are driving crazy and walking crazy in the supermarket or shopping centre trying to buy all without respect for other. It should be a peace and love time giving only a symbolic present, and family reunion time.

Thought it has become a commercial season I still love Christmas Like in the old days of a children.

What is Digital Signage

By sunset On November 18th, 2008

It’s not a secret that most companies increasingly seek to “fish” as many clients as they can when it comes the time to make the decision of buying. Consumers are busier from day to day, and it has become more difficult to capture their attention by the traditional means such as TV, radio or newspaper. With the modern and technological world it also emerged a way of reaching the client through internet. It’s known that most people that spend time in the internet also buy online, thus, the digital signage has emerged as a tool between traditional media and extensive media to encourage the interaction between the consumer and the products directly at the point of sale.

Unemployment

By sunset On November 13th, 2008

Being unemployed is really getting me down from day to day. Although I have my inscription in the job center they don’t have many offers for all unemployed people. Yesterday I was called to the unemployed office to have a workshop, with several other people with a license degree, on how to search jobs online, mainly in the EURES Portal. We also focused other things like “a good posture in a job interview” but the core issue of the workshop was to motivate us to search European and Worldwide jobs. It’s no use to say that, although I knew the Eures Portal already, when I got home I went to the net to search job related sites worldwide and I found  an one with several interesting articles for those unemployed  looking for a  new job. They have articles with tips to maximize a job search, they have job board blogs in their links, articles to help professionals taking more advantages on their careers and they even show the unemployment rate and other statistics on their site. For those who might need the site name is Employment Metrix. It’s good to have access to this information in order to gain some motivation to keep searching for a job that suits us. It’s a shame that the unemployment office is not doing this as often as it should but they deserve a credit for starting with this kind of workshops.

The Spanish Language

By sunset On November 13th, 2008

As you all know Spanish is one of the most spoken languages in the world. There are 22 Spanish speaking countries. For those of you who don’t know Spanish is the 3rd most spoken language next to English and Chinese. For that reason more and more people are willing to learn Spanish. Lots of Companies Worldwide are already requesting Spanish language skills workers and I believe it tends to grow.

Portugal isn’t different. We are just one step away from Spain but most people don’t speak the proper Spanish. They speak, the so called by the Portuguese people, “Portunhol” meaning this a mix between Portuguese and Spanish.

Spanish is a Latin Language and therefore similar to Portuguese. At least the grammar and sentence construction, for that reason it is still common in Portugal for people to think that they can speak fairly Spanish without learning. But that mentality is changing and nowadays they are more people trying to learn the correct Spanish.

For that reason I was contacted, as I learned Spanish in University, to teach the language 6 hours a week to some students. I’m not going to make much money but I’ll do a think I like

I think if we look at the numbers by itself it makes Spanish a good choice when wanting to learn another language. And you have plenty of reasons to do so. Through my understanding it is always good to learn another language as we start to have a better understanding of our own language (we have to understand our native in order to understand a foreign one) and also we can travel to others countries not worrying they will not understand us. You will enrich your culture, because by knowing their language you have to learn as well their culture. And so on…

I’ll leave a tip for those of you who might want to learn Spanish… There are plenty of Online Spanish courses for free. And if you need a help just let me know.

My Furniture

By sunset On November 4th, 2008

When I started furnishing my apartment I started with the essential like a sofa, a table a bed and kitchen house ware and electro domestics and of course a TV. Now I’m trying to decide the rest of my furniture but I’m only taking some ideas because I don’t have the money to buy all that I need. But with those new Ideas came the regret of having chosen the furniture I have in a rush. Although I like my sofa I would definitely change it for a different one like home theater seating. I would also change the size of my bed, which I consider too big for the space. I would change some things in the kitchen and so on and so on… Well I guess after a while nobody is satisfied with what we’ve got because home fashion is always changing and we see better looking and fashionable furniture all the time.
