Technologies

By sunset On April 22nd, 2009

Last week I bought a set of technology articles.

This week I’m in a training course in Oporto and as it’s only the second time I’m in this city and I decided to buy a GPS not to lose myself in this big city. I’m perfectly able to drive in Lisbon but since I don’t know Porto like I know Lisbon and I didn´t want to get lost I’ve decided not to take the chance, and although I had some difficulties at first now I’m getting use to this new technology and I believe it can be helpful. I also bought an external hard drive to remove all the documents from my laptop or to have them secure and I bought a wireless router to use at home, the only thing missing now is a Ipnone and Iphone accessories that I wanted to buy long time ago. I guess it could come next because presently I don’t have the time to use it, because it’sa work work work. So I have to wait a bit more.

Weddings

By sunset On April 22nd, 2009

Next month I’ll be attending a friend’s wedding and I cannot afford buying new clothes neither for me nor for Angel. So I’ve decided to use my New Years Eve night dress, very suitable to that occasion and Angel is going to wear a suit he bought last year to another friends weeding. This year is full of occasions like that and I’ve been seeing tuxedos because one of my cousin is also getting married and I’m going to be one of the maids of honor and I want him to look nice, but I think we wouldn’t be very comfortable in a complete tuxedo so we believe that a black or dark brown suit will be fashionable and matching my maid of honor dress.

Summer is coming

By sunset On April 3rd, 2009

The summer is knocking at our door, and with so it also comes the concern with the line and with loosing weigh. Publicity is full of diet pill, like Apidexin, or with products helping on those suffering from liquids retain, the gyms are crowded but still betting on publicity to gain more and more clients. Indeed people should worry with the line and health but not only when the summer is approaching, they should do so all year round. Both body and mind will appreciate more and the results will be more effective.

A travel escape

By sunset On April 2nd, 2009

It’s been a while since me and Angel are discussing visiting London. I was there a couple of times but he never went there and we would like to do that trip together. As some people know a flight from Portugal to London is not that expensive is bought in advance but what is expensive is the stay. Even if you decided to stay in a lodge or a guest house it is still expensive, so I’ve been trying to find hotel reservation promo to decide when we should go there. I think as time goes by its more and more difficult for us to find the money and the time but I really miss visiting London and I really miss going on an escape to another country.

Discovering Paris

By sunset On April 2nd, 2009

“Well informed, eloquent and oh-so-romantic, the ‘City of Light’ is a philosopher, a poet, a crooner. As it always has been, Paris is a million different things to a million different people.

Paris has all but exhausted the superlatives that can reasonably be applied to any city. Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower – at sunrise, at sunset, at night – have been described countless times, as have the Seine and the subtle (and not-so-subtle) differences between the Left and Right Banks. But what writers have been unable to capture is the grandness and even the magic.

Paris probably has more familiar landmarks than any other city in the world. As a result, first-time visitors often arrive in the French capital with all sorts of expectations: of grand vistas, of intellectuals discussing weighty matters in cafés, of romance along the Seine, of naughty nightclub revues, of rude people who won’t speak English. If you look hard enough, you can probably find all of those. But another approach is to set aside the preconceptions of Paris and to explore the city’s avenues and backstreets as if the tip of the Eiffel Tower or the spire of Notre Dame wasn’t about to pop into view at any moment.

You’ll soon discover (as so many others before you have) that Paris is enchanting almost everywhere, at any time, even ‘in the summer, when it sizzles’ and ‘in the winter, when it drizzles’, as Cole Porter put it. And you’ll be back.”

Struggling to live

By sunset On April 2nd, 2009

I started last week teaching a new course of Spanish language applied to the tourism field. It’s a bit far  and at night but I need the money and I’m not in a position to refuse work. I have 14 students all middle age. Yesterday one of the students came to me and told me that she might be a little confused or sleepy some times because she was taking strong pills. She told me she had Mesothelioma cancer, a maligned one, that attack her lung and she was on a strong medication. I was really surprised by the way she told me that, like if it was nothing really important, but I could see in her eyes that she was in pain but she wanted to be strong at the eyes of other people. She is struggling to live but she knows that sooner or later she will have to go and still she wants to improve her skills learning a new language. It takes a lot of courage.

I was in a strange situation and did not know how to react to what she was telling me, but I tried to assure her that she could count on my help through the course I tried not to show my frightened eyes.
